N.S.W. BROKE KIRKWINDEYER RULES COUNCIL'S ANNUAL REPORT Upon the arrival in New Zealand of the New South Wales team for the Kirk-Windeyer Cup, it was found that it insisted upon making a departure from what had always been considered to be the conditions of the K irk - Windeyer Cup, namely, that the Australian States are to play off to decide who s-hall play in New Zealand, says the report to be presented at the annual meeting of the New Zealand Golf Association, Incorporated, to be held at Palmerston North next month. “It was contended by New South Wales that we should play Victoria in order to decide which one plays New South Wales, the holders.” the report continues. “The council, after a special meeting on the day of arrival, and after communicating with Mr. Windeyer, who confirmed the view of his team, decided to accede to the wishes of the visitors, and consequently our team played and beat Victoria before playing the New South Wales team, against whom, as all our members are aware, our team achieved a splendid victory. The New Zealand team consisted of Messrs. T. H. Horton, E. M. Macfarlane, J. B. Black, Dr. K. Ross and Air. A. D. S. Duncan, captain. Mr. Duncan, who did not strike his best form while practising at < hristchurch, elected not to play in tho team. LOSS TO NEW ZEALAND The council feels that, in referring to Kirk-Windeyer Cup matches, special reference should be made to the loss which golf in New Zealand has suffered through the departure for Melbourne of Air. £>loan Morpeth. The council, while congratulating Air. Morpeth upon having been appointed to a more important position, wishes to place on record that he will be greatly missed from New Zealand, because of his personality as well as his wonderful golf. During tho year ended 14 clubs joined tho association, making the membership 173 clubs as at July 31, 1930, as against 159, 148 and 134 in the preceding three years. The revenue for the year was £1,261 17s, comprising subscriptions from clubs £1,202 18s 6d, interest C2O 5s 6d, proportion of gate money £3B 13s.
