That public interest in the fourth and final Ru,;by test match between Britain and Now Zealand is extraordinarily keen was illustrated yesterday when the S,OOO additional seats which were advertised for sale at various depots in the city and suburbs Were sold out in under an hour. The fact that Mr. S. Hollander, of Christchurch, will not be able to referee the Fourth Test between Britain and New Zealand will mean that another referee will have the chance to gain what is a referee's most prized possession. This is the blazer which is awarded by the New Zealand Referees’ Association to every member who is given control of a Test match. The referee who takes the field for a Test gains Dominion honours from his Association no less than the players who are representing their country on the field. This year. Mr. Hollander is the only referee to gain such a blazer, which will be embellished with dates of the other matches which he controlled. BRITISH TEAM’S TOUR NEW TEST CANDIDATES * Special to THE SUE THE CHATEAU, Today. Adverse weather throughout the visit marred the British team’s enjoyment of its visit to the Chateau Tongariro, but all were much impressed with the magnificent appointments of the Chateau and with the scope that exists for winter sports on Ruapehu’s snowcovered slopes.

Though the team was at the Chateau for two and a-lialf days, lowlying clouds obscured the peak throughout. Yesterday was so wet that the whole day was spent indoors, most of the men occupying their time with letter-writing, though billiards, badminton, ping-pong, and rummy helped to while away a quiet but enjoyable day. Today, despite threatening weather, a party of ten paid a visit to the Petahi Blowhole, high on the slopes of Tongariro. Others walked to the ski-ing grounds close to the Chateau, but on account of the risk of injury none was permitted to ski. The test team for Saturday has not yet been picked, and will not be chosen till the team’s arrival in Wellington early on Wednesday morning. There are likely to be some changes, Tvith Novis, Welsh, and Kendrew probable candidates for places.
