Due to the very real Communistic menace existing in China, missionaries have been ordered to make immediate preparations to evacuate the interior stations. Recently Communist troops captured two missionaries, Misses Nettleton and Harrison. They cut off the former’s fingers on one hand and sent a message to the Church Missionary Society demanding a huge ransom. A Tokyo message says official advices have been received confirming the news of extended successes of the Communist armies in China, which the Nationalist forces are not able to check. Four Japanese destroyers today left Sasebo for Shanghai for the protection of Japanese ports on the Yangtse River.
