WESTFIELD STOCK SALE WESTFIEI.D, 2.30 p.in. An aggregate yarding of approximately 536 head of fat cattle came forward to Westfield today to meet w’th a very firm demand. Best young ox made up to 40s a hundred, average prime ox 36s to 38s a hundred. Best young cow male to 37s a hundred. The offering of ox beef was drawn from over a comparatively wide range, but, although a few particularly choice prime lines were yarded, the average quality was not up to that of last week. One line of particularly prime ox beef came from as far south as Feilding to make up to £l7. A line locally fattened steers on account .T. R. Seif, Papatoetoe, made the highest price of the season, two particularly heavy prime steers going to R. E. Stott, Birkenhead, for £lB 12s 6d. A truck of mixed light to heavy prime steers on account A. Martin, Mauku. made from £ll 17s 6d to £, 6. Fourteen medium to heavy prime steers on account Death Brothers, Papatoetoe, made from £l3 to £l4 12s 6d. A truck of medium to heavy prime steers on account C. G. Robertson. Waiuku, made from £l3 7s 6d to £ls 2s 6d. Medium to heavy prime steers on account Jas. Douglas. Pukekohe, made from £l2 15s to £l4. A truck of well finished handy weight steers on account W. 11. Kefland, Waipipi, made from £l2 2s 6d to £l4 ss. The cow and heifer offering made the poorest showing for many weeks. The biggest percentage was made up of indifferent dairy sorts; few station lots came forward. The cow and heifer market, nevertheless, was particularly firm. Extra heavy prime steers made to £l.B 12 6; heavy prime, £l4 to £l6; medium. £l2 10s to £l3 15s; light and small prime, from £B. Heavy prime young cows and heifers made to £l2; medium. £7 10 to £9; light and small, from £6; unfinished, from £3 10s. Another very heavy yarding of calves was made up mostly of small and fresh-dropped sorts. Well-nourished calves showing a little age met with a firm sale. Exporters took the bulk of the offering of small calves at from 5s to 14s. Extra choice runners made up to £10; heavy vealers to £4 ss; medium, £2 5s to £3 6s.
