DRIVER FRACTURES SKULL IN CRITICAL CONDITION From Our Oicn Correspondent OPOTIKI, Wednesday. An accident occurred last evening at Tirohanga, about four miles from Opotiki. when a middle-aged single man, Mr. William Toomev, was seriously injured. Mr. Toomey left Opotiki late in the afternoon for his home. It is presumed that the horse he was driving in a light spring cart took fright, capsizing the vehicle at a dangerous bluff. Mr. Toomey was found by Mr. C. Shaw lying in an unconscious condition and bleeding from a bad wound in the head. Dr. H. M. Budd went to the scene of the accident and found the injured man suffering from a fracture of the base of the skull. He was admitted to the public hospital and regained consciousness today. He is still in a critical condition.
