SUBSIDY FOR ROADING
WORK NEAR WHANGaREI MINISTER’S APPROVAL ■THE BUS'S Parliamentary Reporter PARLIAMENT BLDGS. Wed. Approval has been given by the Minister of Public Works, the Hon. W. B. Taverner, to a subsidy of £l&s (£2 for £1) following on representations made by the Minister of Mines, the lion. A. J. Murdoch, for the Whanearei Borough Council. The subsidy is to be paid on widening the Otaika Road as a relief work. The subsidy is to be on labour based on wages at the rate of 14s a day and on the distinct understanding that the road alignment will be improved at the same time. The estimated cost of the work is £577, and consists wholly of labour. The payment of the subsidy will be made when the work has been completed to the satisfaction of the district engineer of the Public Works Department.
