WORK AT ADDINGTON

SATURDAY’S ACTIVITIES LOGAN PARK DOING WELL Special to THE SUX CHRISTCHURCH, Saturday. A feature of some interesting work at Addington on Saturday was a mile and a-half work-out by Prince Pointer and Logan Park, who are to be raced at the Addington August carnival. There was little between the pair at the end. both being anxious to increase the pace. The track was sticky near the rails, but the outside going was firm. An interesting work-out was shared by Apex. Royal Comrade and Native Prince, who went away at -4 yards intervals in that order from the mile and a-half. With half a mile covered, Muriel de Oro joined in to take the lead, and pilot the others for six furlongs, when she was eased. Apex and Royal Comrade finished together with Native Prince close up. It was a good serviceable work, and all the participants pleased by their performances. Native Prince will remain in D. Bennett’s stable until J. iS. Sliaw takes up as public trainer in Christch u rch. Nelson Ata and Marinca were together throughout a two-mile essay, in which the Tatter held the upper hand over the right end. At the same time Nelson Ata stayed on gamely, putting a lot of dash into his work. While he has won well over two mile«=Xelson Ata four.d a mile and a-half far enough in the class he reached late this season. Prince Pointer and Logan Park were tried out at a mile and a-haif. and there was little between the pair at the end of a solid trial. Roth horses are in the right order to undergo a preparation for spring engagements. Laplander and Jolly Pet went two miles, the latter always -holding his rival. The trotter Great Change, who will remain in D. Bennett’s stable until the prospective deal between Mrs. I. E. Sweetapple and Mr. F. W. Johnston materialises, was given a run over two miles and shaped satisfactorily. He went solidly on the sticky going. Rose Audo’s Prospects Rose Audo, trotting soundly, wound up a mile and a-quarter in faultless style. She has not done much fast work since resuming training, but is well forward. This season she started off with the reputation of being just an average sort, but she convinced the critics that she is a trotter or no mean order by running two miles right out at the Canterbury Park winter meeting, and the indications are that she will go on to the top class next term. Vendome moved freely in an unhoppled sprint test. The black mare looks very well for this time of the year. The wiry Denver Hinds is corning to hand satisfactorily for J. J. Kennerley, and she showed plenty of dash in a short spin at Addington this morning. Wangadale was also indulged in useful work. Long, strong unhoppled work was allotted to Vesuvius, who bears a robust appearance. Aleron gave a clean display of pacing for two miles, but the speed was never on. He appears to 'be quite sound. Logan Chief, Bonny Logan and Sonoma, who is just back from a spell, had a short spin, brushing home over a. furlong, with Logan Chief holding the lead. Country King in Form Country King and Morrison made good time under the conditions obtaining for 10 furlongs, and Country King was. always, going better. Both horses show the benefit of their recent let-ups. and Morrison in particular has furnished appreciably of late. Linkman was let off with a light task. He has wintered well and promises to be a fit horse for spring engagements. Erin’s Pointer was allotted strong work and Pro Rata carried himself pleasingly over a short course. George Rey hit out resolutely in a spin over a few furlongs. He has failed in his latest public efforts through failing to go away, but the Rcy de Oro pacer will do better.
