LECKIE BEATS NELSON
BOXING AT NAPIER Press Association NAPIER, Sunday. Johnny Leckie (Napier) defeated Ted Nelson (Australia) in a boxing contest at Napier last evening, the Australian throwing in the towel at the end of the 13th round. Nelson was down for nine in the eighth round, but made a remarkable recovery and fought well up to the 13th, when a hard blow to the solar plexus and another to the region of the heart made him retire at the end of the round. At no stage in the bout did he appear to be winning.
