INTER-SUB-UNION RUGBY WAIPA WINS FINLAY CUP From Our Own Correspondent CAMBRIDGE, Saturday. Playing better football, both bach and forward, the Waipa senior representatives defeated Cambridge, holder of the Finlay Cup, in the first challenge here today by 22 points to 9. The match was played in fair weather at Victoria Square before a large attendance. Considering that the ground was holding, the match was very open, thevisitors throwing the ball about in good style. Before Cambridge got into its stride, Waipa had 10 points on the score-board. Waipa had much the better of the first half, although the second spell was more evenly contested. For the visitors, tries were scored by Wilkes, Elliott, Kay and Bell. C. Pollard kicked two penalty goals and converted a try. Kay also converted a try. For the losers, !H. Shaw scored and Williams and X. Morse kicked penalty goals. Mr. A. C. Watkins (Hamilton) was the referee. Other results were: Juniors. —United 6, v. Matangi 6; Hautapu 22, v. Matangi 3; Kaipaki 18, v. Tauwhare 0. Third Grade.—High School 6, v. Leamington 0.
