SIR JOSEPH WARD’S BODY LIES IN STATE AT WELLINGTON.—AII grades of society attended the Solemn Pontifical Requiem Mass which was celebrated for the late Sir Joseph Ward in the Wellington Basilica yesterday. The casket bearing the mortal remains of the great statesman was reverently placed before the altar and the veteran Archbishop Redwood delivered an inspiring address to the congregation. The pictures show, top: The casket, draped with a beautiful Maori mat, lying before the altar. Lower: A part of the huge crowd that gathered at the Basilica for the service.
