MISS MELVILLE LECTURES AT PONSONBY WELL-ATTENDED MEETING A. well-attended meeting, presided over by All's. G. Frost, was held on Tuesday evening in the Leys Institute, when Miss Fllen Alelville made a very eloquent plea, to the audience to buy Now Zealand-made goods. “How can we best cure or greatly reduce unemployment the problem which touches all parts of the country?” asked Aliss Alelvillo. Unemployment should not be looked upon as being inevitable in a young country like New Zealand, with its opportunities and potentialities, which arc not existent in older industrial countries. It was a state of affairs that should be challenged and a remedy sought. Aliss Alelville illustrated her lecture with some very fine lantern slides and gave many reasons why New Zealand industries should be supported. Mrs. Frost, at tho conclusion of the lecture, thanked Aliss Alelville, and several people signed the pledge, which is worded as follows; } promise that when shopping 1 will always ask first for New Zealand goods, and, provided the price and quality are satisfactory, I will purchase them in preference to foreign, thereby giving employ-
