BOXING TONIGHT
RICHARDS AND TROWERN Billy Richards and Reg Trowern should provide one of the best contests seen in Auckland for a long time, if anticipations are realised tonight. Both men are fast movers and solid punchers. Trowern lias not been seen in action in the Auckland ring for a long time, but he lias been fighting-well in Southern rings, his last fight resulting in a win over Hancock, ex-welter-weight champion of Australia. The Aucklander has been in hard training and is reported to be in great condition. Richards opened his New Zealand count just over a week ago. when ho knocked out Stone, of Wellington. The Australian also lias two victories over Hancock, one on points and the other by the short route. In his training workouts he lias shown himself to be a clever boxer with a terrific punen in his right hand. An excellent amateur programme has been arranged in support. PETERS OUTPOINTS GILDO SYDNEY, Sunday. At the Sydney Stadium last evening. Johnny Peters (England). Bst 51b. won on points against Gildo. Sst 51b. was fierce fighting in the early stages, but the Filipino was rot scientific. He made many wild rushes and was outboxed.
