OPPORTUNITY FOR ALL TO WIN

Contestants Should Disregard Discouraging Rumours PRIZES ARE DISPLAYED IN QUEEN’S ARCADE

Many contestants are calling at the Campaign Department these days and reporting discouraging rumours that are being circulated here and there. The campaign has reached the stage at the present time where the keenest interest is being shown by the cenrestante and the reading public o£ Auckland. Just as in any other kind of competition, people in their enthusiasm think that by spreading discouraging reports they can drive out the other contestants and have the field to themselves. It is the old game of “bluff the other fellow out and win.” The Sun has had to put up with it for the past three years. A hundred people will tell you today that you can’t win The Sun's Great Popularity Campaign. If you can spare the time to listen, each one will give you at least five reasons why you can't. This will take up most of your day and you will not have secured many rotes. It is quite certain that those who have taken so much time warning you will not give you anything but advice. Their subscriptions end the votes that go with them will be placed elsewhere. That is their real reason for trying to discourage a contestant. They expect to enter the campaign themselves, or

are interested in some particular contestant, but, of course, they do not want you to know that. The whole idea is to try to frighten you Into giving up—to make you a quitter. If you listen all day to the “calamity voices” someone else will be getting a lot of votes that might just as well have been yours. When you see that a person is only trying to hinder you, leave him and go to a friend who will give you some support. After all, a popularity campaign Is only a test of friendship. How many real friends have you? Find out. LIST PUBLISHED TODAY

Today we publish again the list of contestants in the competition. There are many changes all down the line; new contestants are springing forward and those who were considered possibilities are falling by the wayside. The list publislmd today only includes such actual vote certificates as were remitted and deposited in the ballot box up to Thursday night. The great bonus offer is drawing to a close. Up until Saturday, July 5, a special bonus ballot of 400,000 votes will be given for each total of £lO turned in. This is the greatest period to secure votes during the balance ot the campaign. Wise contestants are taking every advantage of its vote-get-ting possibilities. The prize may be won or lost by the extra votes secured

during this period. People who have promised subscriptions to favourite contestants should give them next week as they will be more valuable now than later on. The list of contestants for The Sun's Great Popularity Campaign which appears on this page is considerably diminished as the names of all nominees who are not taking an active part in the campaign have been deleted. The list as it appears today contains only the names of people who have turned in subscription money. Any deleted name may be reinstated with full votes when a subscription for three months or longer has been turned in. If any name has been mistakenly left out of the list the Campaign Manager should be notified at once so that the proper correction may be made. PRIZE DISPLAY IN QUEEN'S ARCADE The big display of The Sun’s £6,000 in prizes offered in this competition now being made in the Queen’s Arcade is still attracting crowds. Every day contestants and friends of contestants call and see the prizes and go away with new life and enthusiasm. The common expression heard on all sides is "We didn’t think the prizes were so wonderful. We didn’t think they were so beautiful and valuable,” but when they get down to the Queen’s Arcade and see the prizes there they realise the value of these magnificent rewards.

A MORNINGSIDE CONTESTANT

Mr. Roy Common entered the race sometime ago and has been working hard to establish a high place in the list. His many t'reinds at Morningside are supporting him heartily. Mr. Roy Common says, “I think your list ot prizes offered in The Sun Popularity Campaign is wonderful, I would particularly like to win the Motor Cycle, but I shall be well satisfied if I win any one of the lovely prizes offered.

A SPECIAL BONUS OFFER of 400,000 will lie given for each total of £lO turned in up to noon, July 5. This is the greatest bonus offer that will be made for the rest of the campaign.
