CLAIM FROM CANADA SAID TO BE 111 YEARS OLD When the Centenarian Club, of London, which has spent much time and money in taking a census of people of more than 100 years of age. recently declared that the oldest living man in the world was 10S years and lived in India, it was talking a lot of nonsense, in the opinion of Mr. Jim Mclntosh, British Columbia's oldest resident. Mr. Mclntosh is somewhat of an authority on longevity, and has a right to challenge the Centenarian Club’s siatement, because he himself is 111 years old. “I suppose these fellows tried hard to find the oldest man,” said Mr. McIntosh, “but there isn’t much excuse to miss me. I haven’t kept my ago a secret/' The Centenarian Club has fallen foul of several aged British Columbians. who said in a good-humoured way that the club showed prejudice against the white race in selecting an East Indian for the honour of being the world’s oldest man. “Dad” Quick,” Vancouver’s celebrated citizen, recently passed his 109th birthday, and “Solomon” Mutch, of Burnaby, is nearly as old. Dr. Earnest Maurice, the well-known London physician, who is president o? the Centenarian Club, reported that he had discovered 25 persons in the British Isles who were 100 years old or older, and that seemingly there was no one in the world who had attained the age of 110.
