MADE HIMSELF AT HOME
CLIMBED INTO STRANGE BED . FOR SLEEP DISCOVERED IN MORNING Wandering into a boarding-house in Wellington Street on Saturday evening, John Hart found his way into an unoccupied room and climbed into bed, where he was found by the proprietor next morning. He was fined £1 in the Police Court this morning. Ilart, a barman, aged 37, pleaded guilty to being found on enclosed premises without lawful excuse. SubInspector Shanahan said accused had been arrested by Constable Davis a t 10 a.m. j-esterday after spending the niglit at the house, in a room which was temporarily empty. The proprietor of the boarding-house had had trouble'-with accused before. Hart’s explanation was that he had knocked and got no reply so went to bed. He had ' the money to pay for his night’s lodging. It was at his house in Vincent Street. Mr. F. K. Hunt S.M.: If you had a house in Vincent Street why did you go to the boarding-liouse? Accused: I don’t know. I’ve been there before.
The sub-inspector added that accused had been sentenced to six weeks’ imprisonment for theft at Rotorua in 1928. Default of the-£l fine was fixed at three days’ imprisonment.
