In “Puttin’ on the Ritz” at the Empress Theatre the entire production was planned to strike a modern note From the sets right through the songs, tempo, costumes, action, dances and players, everything was effected accordingly. William Cameron Menzies designed special modernistic backgrounds; Irving Berlin prepared a number new theme songs including ith You,” “There’s Danger in Your Cherie,” and “Puttin’ on the Ritz,” the revue sequences were done in technicolour and Broadway's leading costume designers were engaged to prepare the clothes worn bv the women of the ensemble.
