MERCHANTS PLEASED
CANADA’S TIMBER RATES DROP VANCOUVER, Saturday. So pleased are the British Columbia merchants with the Australian extension of preference on sawn timber, that a resolution of appreciation is likely to be proposed when the State Legislature meets. Mr. A. E. Munn, a former member of the State Legislature, and now a candidate for the Canadian Blouse of Commons, said it was very encouraging to see Australia following Canada in extending Empire preference. The fact that both British countries were placing Canadian cedar on the same basis as California redwood was specially welcome, but an extension of the preference on cedar was also hoped for.
