SCHNEIDER CUP PLANE CHANGES HANDS PURCHASED BY EXPERT LONDON, June 1. A private owner, who is an expert in supercharging petrol engines, has purchased one of the Gloster Napier seaplanes, built by the Air Ministry, for the Schneider Cup race, and he intends attacking Squadron-Leader Orlebar’s speed record of 377.7 miles an hour. He hopes, by supercharging the Napier engine, to obtain a speed approaching 400 miles an hour. If successful, he will enter the next Schneider Cup race. The machine at present is being overhauled at Croydon, in preparation for an attempt on the record.
