The first signs of political upheavals occurred when the Liberal Party decided to issue a manifesto declining to support Prince Carol, who was yesterday proclaimed King. It is definitely stated that Princess Helen has refused reconciliation with her husband, and therefore she will not be crowned Queen but will be given the title of Princess-Mother. The Queen-Mother, Marie, declared: “I strongly object to reports that I fled from Rumania. Prince Carol and myself have always been great and steadfast friends. “I am overjoyed at his return, and expect the repercussions of his elevation to the Throne will be excellent.”
