ANNUAL MEETING

ONEHUNGA KINDERGARTEN By means of private subscriptions, successful card parties, jumble sales, and dramatic entertainments, the funds of the Onehunga Free Kindergarten, as disclosed in the annual report and balance sheet, have been sufficient to clear off the debt on a section of land in Hill Street, and leave a substantial balance as the nucleus of a fund for the erection of a modern school building. The average attendance last year was 45, and a warm tribute is paid to the teachers. Misses H. Fowke and Ruth Sutherland, who are naturally adapted for kindergarten work, and who by their zeal and efficiency have created the right atmosphere for the little ones. The kindergarten is being conducted at present in the Coronation Hall, Queen Street. Onehunga, but the committee anticipates being in a position before long to make a start on its own building in Hill Street, a locality removed from tram and motor traffic, and in every way more suitable for kindergarten work than the present site. The following officers were reelected: President. Mrs. David Cuthbert; vice-presidents, Mrs. H. Murdoch and Mrs. E. V. Sutherland; secretarv, M. rs - J- M. Chapman: treasurer. Miss AY atkin. committee. Alesdames T. J. Neill. J. Kirkwood. E. Jones, A'. Kirk and Miss N. Wade.
