DISCUSSION BY COUNCIL Press Association WELLINGTON, Monday. For three hours this evening the council of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association discussed the draft of the proposed new rules. Their adoption as a whole has not been completed, as certain constitutions are being submitted to the various centres of the association for their approval. In general the rules have been modified to bring them more precisely in line with those of the International Federation. Draft constitutions of the annual conferences of centres, cycling delegates, and harrier delegates, are being circulated to all centres in order to get their approval before incorporation in the rules. Other questions resulting from the Wanganui conference are being kept in mind. One of the principal changes this evening was the alteration of the entrance fee for national championship events. Formerly a competitor's first entry was accompanied by a fee of ss, . ind subsequent entries by 2s 6d each All entry fees, including the first, are now 2s 6d. Standard performances in the quarter l tile, mile, long jump, high jump, hop tep and jump, javelin throw, and half-mile cycle (on banked track) were altered. The alterations are: 440 j ards, 51 l-ssec; one mile, 4min 27sec long jump, 21ft Gin; high jump. sft 9in; hop, step, and jump, 44ft Gin; javeli i throw, 17i5ft; half-mile cycle (banksd track). 62sec.
