HOUSEBREAKER WITH LONG RECORD DETENTION FOR ACCOMPLICE Taking into account Henry James Dickman’s lengthy list of convictions for theft since 1921, Mr. Justice Smith, in the Supreme Court today, declared him an habitual criminal, and sentenced him to two years’ hard labour, for each of a series of housebreakings. An accomplice in these crimes, John Booth Prohl, was sentenced to three years’ reformative detention. Both men, who are 29 and 20 respectively, are now serving terms — Dickman in Mount Eden, and Prohl at Waikeria. “Both of you are not very old, but you have a very substantial list of convictions,” commented the judge.
