Their Excellencies the Governorgeneral and Lady Bledisloe gave a garden party this afternoon to representatives of the staffs of various city business firms. This evening ms Excellency will attend a social in the Scots Hall given by the Auckland Orphans’ Club. Sir George Elliot returned to Auckland by the Limited today. Captain Coll McDonald has been elected chairman of the Otago Harbour Board. —(P.A.) Mr. P- Hally, conciliation commissioner, was a passenger to Auckland by the Limited express today. Mr. C. A. Peat, of the Auckland staff of the National Bank of New Zealand, lias been appointed manager of the Morrinsville branch. Mr. Harold. Herbert Carr has been appointed Deputy-Resident Commissioner of Rarotonga. Mr. Carr was appointed a judge of the Native Land Court in 1923. Mr. W. Grounds, a member of the Dairy Produce Board, and /Mr. Dynes Pulton, chairman of directors of the New Zealand Co-operative Dairy Company, Limited, arrived in Auckland yesterday. Mr. Forbes R. Wilford, son or the I?ev. Canon J. R. Wilford, principal of College House, Christchurch, lis.s on nomination of the Governor-General been accepted by the Army Council as a cadet at the Royal Military College, Sandhurst, England. Mr. L. A. Paish, British Trade Commissioner in New Zealand, arrived yesterday evening from Hamilton, and is at the Grand Hotel. He will remain in Auckland until Thursday, when ho •will return to Wellington. Mrs. Paish is expected to arrive from "Wellington today. Mr. W. L. Lowrie, American ConsulGeneral to New Zealand, and Mrs. Lowrie, sailed yesterday for the United States, via Panama, by the s.s.
