Ross, winners of the championship pairs, were presented with trophies, as were Messrs. T. Grant and C. Mclnnes, winners of the handicap pairs. Another prize-winner was Mr. S. Haines, who was successful in the junior singles competition. During the evening about 70 players indulged in a progressive 500 tourney, the winners being Mrs. L. Marsh and Mr. R. L. RICE BISCUITS These are a dainty addition to the tea-table. Sieve half a pound of flour 3oz. of ground rice and a pinch of salt into a basin. Rub in 3oz. of butter, add the grated rind of half • lemon or orange and 4oz. of castor sugar. Beat up an egg with a tablespooniul of milk, and stir this gradually to the mixture. Roll out on a floured board, a little less than a quarter of an inch thick. Cut into rounds, brush these over with sweetened milk, put on a greased baking tin. and bake in a good oven 10 to 15 minutes. Cool on a sieve.
