EAST SIDE-WEST SIDE

BATTLE OVER TRAMS IN ALBERT STREET ANSWER TO QUEEN STREET The West of Queen Street Development Association, which is virtually prime mover in the trams-in-Albert Street scheme, intends to challenge the Queen Street business men who recently waited on the Transport Board in opposition to the proposal.

The “west side” organisation has written to Lhe Transport Board asking permission to send a delegation on Tuesday, June 10. the next occasion on which the board sits on open meeting.

The board will not decide this important question until all interests have had opportunity of stating their case. It is likely that the board will desire to meet the City Council before a decision .is made.

The • problem appears to revolve round the question: “Is Queen Street

congested so seriously as to necessitate the opening of other outlets for tram traffic, or will improved methods of traffic control meet the position?”
