Pleading that he had not been long jin the country, and did not understand the law. and that in Dalmatia ’ where he came from it was permissible , to shoot game for nine months out of | 12, Tony Roas was fined £3 and costs ’ £1 6s by Mr. R. M. Watson, S.M.. today, ori a charge of shooting a pheas- ; ant out of season. The magistrate commented that the* j were not in Dalmatia now. j The charge was brought by Mr. W. ! T - Routledge, ranger for the Auckland Acclimatisation Societv.
