WEST COAST BARS CLEARING

OVERSEAS VESSELS LATE

Unworkable bars throughout the length of the West Coast and stormy weather generally, have delayed shipping considerably during the last few days. This morning It was reported that vessels are working the bars. The Northern Company’s Ronaki, which had left Onehunga for Raglan and Kawhia, had to shelter inside Manukau Heads last night. The Hauturu had to abandon her trip to New Plymouth on Wednesday, and will now sail at noon tomorrow. The Arapawa was expected to negotiate the Hoklauga bar this afternoon, and is due at Onehunga tomorrow morning. The A. G. Frankham vessel Hokianga has also been delayed at Hokianga. The Greymouth and Westport coal shipments have been held up since Tuesday night. The Canopus cleared from Westport at 11 a.m. today, and j the Union Company’s vessels have I also been delayed at Greymouth. The S Kaimai has been bar-bound since May 14, the Kahika and Ngatoro since May 17, and the Kamona since May 18. These vessels had loaded for Wellington.
