STOLE FROM ORCHARD
PENALTIES MADE ON FIVE
A watch kept by an orchardist, a constable and two other men in a Birkdala orchard which had suffered at the hands of raiders, was responsible for the appearance before Mr. F\ H. Levien, S.M., in the Bolice Court this morning of several youths. \Y. C. Sainty and C. F l . Alexander were fined 10s each for stealing fruit from the property of the orchardist. F. Hayman. R. W. Lovett and R. H. Steadman were convicted and ordered to pay costs. Sub-Irfepector Shanahan explained that the offenders were not residents of Birkdale, but were visitors to the district.
A man, George Alfred Garner, who did not appear, was fined =£l and ordered to pay costs. According to th® evidence, a girl was caught when. Garner was discovered.
