INSURANCE APPOINTMENT
MR. DIDSBURY’S SUCCESSOR
MR. H. W. KELLY’S CAREER
To fill the vacancy caused by the retirement of Air. H. AI. Didsbury, Mr. H. W. Kelly has been appointed manager of the Auckland branch of the New Zealand Insurance Company. He will take up his new position next week.
Born at Alangonui, North Auckland, 56 years ago, Air. Kelly was educated at Napier and joined the company’s staff in ISS9. After spending some time in the Wellington office he was appointed manager at Wanganui in 1911 and in 1920 was transferred to Dunedin as manager there, before being appointed in 1923 to manager at Alelbourne, holding, in addition, the position of controlling officer for the company in Australia.
A keen Rugby footballer, Air. Kellv represented Wellington for several years and for some time held the record for the number of interprovincial games played by a Wellington representative. He captained his team in most of the matches. He finished playing in 1903, but later he became a member of the Management Committee of the New Zealand Rugby Union, and after the tour of the Dominion by A. F. Harding’s British team accompanied the side to Australia as representative of the New Zealand Union.
