FINALS FOR MEETING SNOWFALL TRAINS WELL Press Association DUNEDIN. Thursday. Tlie weather was decidedly wintry at AVing-arui this morning - . A. strongbreeze charged with a cold tinge from snow-capped hills confined the track attendance to those bent on business. Showers fell during the morning, but even the rain overnight did not seriously affect the state of the going on the course proper, where the ground was quite firm. The track work opened with Xedda and Dumblane running over six frulongs in 1.22 2-5, without being extended. Glenrowan and Sudden Storm left six furlongs behind in 1.23, and seven in 1.36 2-5. Salmo Salar and Ballance ran over six furlongs in 1.24 3-5. Stealth and "Wingatui covered seven furlongs in 1.36, and the former seemed to have most in reserve at the finish. Waterline, Full Feather, Semper Paratus and Straightcourse were allotted nice striding work on the inside grass. Pink Note was allowed to stride along - , and left the mile behind in 1.49. The Paper Money gelding is going welL and may be found repeating his best form. Circulation and Camisader were responsible for a good gallop over a mil© which they cast behind in 1.49. The first furlong took 12 4-ss, and both finished with a good deal in reserve. Smithereens and Tuku were not fully extended when running seven furlongs in 3.37. Caterpillar was not fully spun out when galloping over five furlongs in 1.10. Ravine could have clipped something off 1.8 if asked to do better over five furlongs. The most interesting work of the morning took place between Snowfall (E. Mackie) and Nightraid (T. Humphries). They commenced at the big sod wall, and both cleared it in beautiful style. Then came the post and rails, and ditch and sod wall, and then the post and rails on the course proper. Both were allowed to stride along over the balance of a circuit and at the finish Snowfall seemed to have most in reserve.

Bitractor came home in front of Top Speed (who docs not seem to be right) at the end of six furlongs in 1.20. Bitractor is a better horse on the track than he is in a race. A number of other horses did useful work.

Jt is worthy of note that the wet weather of the past two days has not to any material extent affected the state of going on the course proper at Wingatui. Unless heavy rain sets in the going will be firm enough to suit any horse, and at the same time the sting will be out of the ground.
