LITTLE ALL BLACK MATERIAL IN SIGHT
WAIKATO’S LEAN SEASON Special to THE SUN HAMILTON, Monday. Waikato is still singularly bereft of footballers qualified for All Black honours. In Hamilton, at all events, there are few men one could single out for steady, consistenly good play, which is the main attribute for representative selection. In a year or mare there should be ample material to draw from, and latest senior matches have revealed several freshmen who would do credit to internationals but lack the weight and experience. McWilliams has shaped very well since he signed up with Prankton. ITe has been on the list of try-getters and can be recommended for all-round efficiency in the van. Supporters of the Old Boys team in Hamilton have been advancing the claims of Rita Chapman, a sound enough forward, who has held the roving commission at recent fixtures. He is certainly worth a try-out. Jack Tuck, who went over to Australia with the New Zealand team last year, has played up to form this year and many local followers of the code are still wondering why he was ignored for the Probables v. Possibles match at Palmerston. Tuck’s chief fault is a tendency to hang on too long, but for all that he is a great back and bears closer inspection.
