HAMILTON VISITED
MANY ENGAGEMENTS Prom Our Otcn Correspondent HAMILTON, Monday. The Governor-General, Lord Bledisloe, and Lady Bledisloe arrived today from Auckland and were warmly welcomed by a large crowd at the railway station. They were met on the platform by the Mayor, Mr. J. R. Fow, and Mrs. Fow, and Mr. J. A. Young, M.P., and Mrs. Young. A guard of honour was provided by a company of territorials from the Waikato Regiment under Captain S. E. Senior, M.C. After lunch the Vice-Regal party visited the New Zealand Co-operative Dairy Company’s butter, tin and boxmaking factories at Frankton. The general manager, Mr. C. J. Parlane, met the party and explained the various operations. Mr. Parlane presented Lord Bledisloe with an album of photographs of the company’s factories and office buildings. A visit was then paid to the Waikato Diocesan Girls’ School at Claudelands, and a new dormitory block was officially opened by the Governor General. Their Excellencies were the guests of honour at a dinner given by the Hamilton Borough Council in the evening. The Waikato Winter Show will be opened by his Excellency tomorrow afternoon. In the evening their Excellencies will attend the annual dinner of the Winter Show Assoeia tion, and Lady Bledisloe will later be entertained by the combined women’s societies of Hamilton. Their Excellencies will leave from Frankton by the limited express tomorrow evening for Wellington. They will return to Auckland on Thursday morning, and will hold a reception the same afternoon.
