AUCKLAND UNION MEETS IMPROVING LOWER GRADES At last night’s meeting of the Auckland Rugby Union, Mr. IT. Frost presiding, confirmation of the following reinstatements was received from the New Zealand Rugby Union:—U. G. Whitehouse, S. E. Whitehead, L. Thomas, R. W. G. Seager, E. M. Colebrook and A. A. Berridge. The following ground officials were appointed for Saturday next: —Takapuna, Mr. Craig; Howick, Mr. Carr; Onehunga, Mr. Williams; Grey Lynn. Mr. Addison; Domain, Mr. Galbraith; Showgrounds, Messrs. Nelson, Matthews; North Shore, Messrs. A. Bayliss, B. Elworth.

It was decided to favourably recommend the application for reinstatement of A. McLachlan.

It was resolved to convene a conference comprising representatives from primary and secondary schools, the senior and junior boards, for the purpose of discussing ways and means of improving the conditions governing the lower grades.

The question.of curtain-raiser games was discussed and it was decided these should start at 1.30 p.m. and be completed by 3 p.m.

Full details of the proposed new training sheds at Rugby Park to cost X 45U were discussed at the meeting of the Management Committee of the Hamilton Rugby Union last evening and several tenders in connection with tho building and installations were accepted. it was decided to hold a special meeting to discuss the terms of the new lease of Rugby Park with the Domain Board.

An important decision was to start one of the two senior games on No. 1 ground at 1.30 p.m., on Saturday, May 17, instead of playing both games o© separate grounds at 3 p.m. This will enable country patrons to witness a match before returning for milking. FRANKTQN’S BAD LUCK

The Frankton Club will be weakened in tho next few games by the absence of E. Everest, centre, and A. L. Park, wing-til reequarter. Everest has a fractured wrist and Park has been ordered to hospital for an operation as a result of an injury sustained in the match with Technical Old Boys last Saturday, which was one of the roughest on record locally, ——
