DISTRICT STOCK SALES

AUCTIONEERS’ REPORTS Stock auctioneers report on sales held throughout the district duiring the past week as follow: Alfred Buckland and Sons, Ltd., report;—During the week we held cattle sales at Westfield, Waiuku, Kumeu and Waiotira, a pig sale at Waiuku and a clearing sale on account of Mr. C. Ryder, Tuakau. There were average yardings of cattle at all centres and good clearances were effected at ruling prices. There was a slight improvement in the value of pigs at Waiuku. Mr. Ryder’s sale was well attended. The cows met with keen sale, high values ruling, and the whole herd averaged £l2 17s Gd. Best dairy cows brought £l2 to £IS ss; second grade cows, £9 to £ll 15s; other dairy cows, £4 10s to £8 15s; best springing heifers, £lO 10s to £ls; other springing heifers, £5 10s to £10; eighteen-monfh to two-year-old dairy heifers in calf, £7 10s to £l2, ' according to quality; other 18months heifers, £4 to £7; einpty young cows and heifers, £3 10s to £5; store and boner cows, £1 10s to £5 ss; fat cows and heifers, £5 10s to £9 15s; fat steers, £lO 15s to £l3 12s 6d; three to four-year-old steers, £S to £9 12s 6d; two to three-year-old steers, £7 to £S; yearling to 20-month-old steers, £5 to £7; cows with calves, £6 10s to £9; weaner heifers, £2 30s to £4 ss; weaner steers, £2 15s to £4: heavy bulls, £6 to £S 17s 6d; sound young herd bulls, £4 4s to £9 9s; other bulls, £1 10s to £5. „ The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, report:— Sales were held during the past week at Westfield, Waiuku (pigs), Papakura and Pukekohe (cattle and pigs), and also a clearing sale at Takapuna. There was a keen demand for dairy cows and heifers close to profit, values for these improving and all other classes of cattle selling at late rates. The demand for fat pigs improved slightly during the week. There was a large attendance of buyers at Messrs. A. and 33. Brett’s clearing sale, the whole herd of 4S cows and heifers •Tveraa-ing £ll 3s, a most successful sale.
