TE AROHA NOTES

The Tft Aroha committee of the queen carnival has decided to receive nominations of queens.

A bail will be held at which th queen will be selected.

Messrs. E. Jackson, G. Bush. H. Kennedy and G. Walsh were elected a social committee.

The municipal band is in a flourishing state financially. Sir. Mayor, Mr. R. Coulter, presided at the annual meeting of members, when the balance-sheet showed receipts had been £237 14s 9d and expenditure £156 Is lOd, leaving a credit balance of £Bl 12s lid. The assets, including a band room, are listed at £1.114 12s lid. after deducting full depreciation. The institution is in the happy position of having no liabilities. It was deeded that the band will compete at the Wellington Band Contest if financial arrangements can be made.

The following officers were elected: Patron, Mrs. Ada Gordon (Auckland); president. Mr. R. Coulter: deputy-con-ductor. Mr. L. Buchan: treasurer. Mr. J. Kennington: secretary, Mr. F. Robinson; drum-major, Mr. G. Moss: librarians, Messrs. I-\ Devoy and I*. Bygrave: finance committee, Messrs. S. E. Christansen, T>. llill. J. L. Robinson (band), <'rs. Frith', H. Peasey. D. McMahon (Borough Council); committee. Messrs. B. Morgan. B. Cochrane,- F. Mace. H. A. Powell, A. Haddon. G. Moss and F. Robinson. The retiring secretary. Mr. G.
