SURPRISE IN COURT
CROWN TO CALL FRESH EVIDENCE SHEEP-STEALING CHARGE Press Association DUNEDIN, Today. The sheep-stealing case against Gilbert William Lewis, which was before the Supreme Court last week and adjourned till today owing to witnesses for the defence being seen conversing with two jurymen, took another surprising turn this morning, when the Crown intimated its intention of calling a considerable volume of fresh evidence. As the defence had only short notice of the introduction of fresh evidence, counsel’s application for an adjournment till next session was granted
