BOXING AT OPOTIKI

SUCCESSFUL TOURNEY From Our Otcti Correspondent OPOTIKI, Today. The 14th amateur boxing tournament under the auspices of the Opotiki Boxing Association was held on Saturday evening and was the most successful tournament here for many- years. There was a very; large attendance. The referee was Mr. J. O’Sullivan. The star bout was between Ray Parkinson (Te Awamutu), list 541 b. and Terry Mullins (Te Kuiti). list 31b, six rounds, middle-weight. The fight did not come up to expectations. Parkinson forced the fighting practically the whole bout, but included rather wild blows, whereas Mullins connected in a more telling way. In the third round Mullins went down from a blow on the chin, just before the gong went, and was assisted to his corner. Heavy fighting resulted in the balance of the rounds. Parkinson taking the count for eight on one occasion. Parkinson appeared groggy' in the closing stages, the decision going to Mullins. Otlier results were: Three Rounds. Middle-weight. —T. This was a verv poor fight, both being too cautious. Wells hardly struck a decent blow and the bout went to Brown. During the interval the president. Mr. J. J.
