Country Dates Loom Largely Once More

A PROPOSED CIRCUIT WAIPA CLUB’S DECISION Special to THE SI X TE AWAMUTU, Today. The question of a suitable date for the Waipa Racing Club's annual race meeting was discussed at a committee meeting on Friday evening. Mr. A. S. ■Wallace presided, and there were also present Messrs. A. H. Store}', W. Alexander, A. Bond, M. IT. Tims, C. t F. Storey, H. Weal, and the secretary, Mr. J. G. Wynyard. Apologies for absence were received from Messrs. A. S. Empson, J. T. Young and T. G. Martin. The secretary stated that the Country Racing Clubs’ Association had discussed the matter of dates for race meetings. Saturday, December 13, was the day allotted to Waipa. Te Kuiti Club last year raced on November 23 and 25 and, as the Auckland Club proposed to race on these dates this year, Te Kuiti desired to alter to avoid clashing. It was suggested that a circuit be formed of Taumarunui, Te Ivuiti and Waipa meetings, Taumarunui to race on December 6, Te Ivuiti on December 13 and Waipa on December 20. It was decided that Waipa Club could not agree to accept a date so late in the month, and the secretary was instructed to apply for Saturday, December 13, as the date for next season's annual race meeting. Mr. F. E. Loomb wrote asking the club to provide, additional stalls at the course, as the number available now was insufficient during the winter months for the number of horses in training. It was decided to refer the request to the architect to report as to the cost of removing the present stalls to a permanent position (in conformity with the scheme for all the buildings) and the erection of additional stalls. The course committee was authorised to procure a truck-load of timber for necessary repairs and also to have a drain formed along the fence-line between the property recently purchased for a motor paddock and the Taylor Estate.

CORNWALL HANDICAP TNERIRI NOT TO START Among those weighted for the Cornwall Handicap at Ellcrslie next month is Taneriri, but he will not continue his engagement on the declaration of acceptances. Hard tracks have not altogether agreed with Taneriri, and soreness set in, to be followed by lameness. He is in the paddock at present, and will remain there until his ownertrainer thinks it advisable to recommission him. And that will not be for a few weeks yet. Taneriri is a good middle-distance galloper, and is up to a bit of weight, and as he is at home on an easy track he had strong claims as a Cornwall winner. Going to the Stud It is understood the two-year-old filly Drastic has run her last race. The daughter of Absurd—Drax shaped promisingly early in the season, but she has not made the improvement hoped for and she is to be retired from the track. Cleared Out Suntint (Paper Money—Sunglow), half-sister to Afterglow, Many Kittle, Shining Armour and others, strolled in by four lengths in the Maiden Handicap at the Wallsend meeting on April 21. Suntint started at a nice price and ran the five furlongs in 64. Staging Come-back The disappointing Fool’s Paradise (Absurd —Mascot) ran a fair second at the Goulburn ponies on April 21. He was the outsider of the field. Randwick Winnings Nightmarcli won £2,815 at the Australian Jockey Club’s meeting—£l.Bls for first in the Autumn Stakes. £6OO for second in the All-Aged Stakes and £ 400 for second in the A.J.C. Plate. His stake record is now £25,148.
