PURSE RECOVERED Two diamond r'ngs, valued at £7O, ..ere stolen fro; house at the corner of Asquith Av d May beck Roao, Mount Alfoer.., Friday evening, x'hree houses \. - visited altogether, but nothing was taken from the other two The occupants of two of the houses were home at the time and lights were burning. , Mrs. M. May, of 15 Maybeck Road, heard footsteps near the house shortly after 7 o’clock, and later the sound of a window rattling. Her daughter, who investigated, heard a man bursting through the shrubbery. A search of tho house showed that nothing was disturbed. Miss L. Solomon, at the adjacent house, 27 Asquith Avenue, was playing cards with friends about this time. Sho had occasion to go to her room and. found that her handbag was missing from the dressing-table. It was later discovered in the garden. Tho few shillings in it had not been removed. Tho rings were stolen from the residence of Mrs. D. McDowell, of 23 Asquith Avenue, the loss not being discovered until late on Saturday. There was no one at home on Friday afternoon or evening, and the rings were taken from a wardrobe in a front room. Entry was gained by casement windows leading to a sleeping iiorch.
