FUSE IN CABLE
QUEEN STREET FIRE A strong smell of heated tar and gentle puffs of smoke which issued through the pavement attracted a curious crowd to the corner of Queen and Victoria Streets shortly before noon today. It was a fuse in the underground cable, but before there was any explosion or outbreak of fire the Auckland Power Board was communicated with and a band of its employees were quickly on the scene and the power was cut off.
