FRAUD CHARGES
TWO MEN IN COURT Press Association STRATFORD, Today. Alex J. Dowling and Allan E. Pearce were admitted, at the Police Court this morning, to 12 months’ probation, on three charges of obtaining credit by fraud and one of the conversion of a motor-car. They apparently met at Te Kuiti and Pearce engaged in repairing typewriters. travelled to Alarton and then to "Wanganui, where they left without paying their board at an hotel. They left Hawera without paying their board, in a converted motor-car which was left at Eltham. Arrested in Stratford on Saturday while staying fft a leading hotel. Dowling. a married man. said lie had sent £4 a week to his wife all the time he warn away from home.
