LABOUR CONFERENCE

NEW ZEALAND TO HAVE REPRESENTATIVES MR. BLOODWORTH AVAILABLE Consent has been given by Mr. T. Bloodworth. of Auckland, to nomination as a representative of New Zealand to attend the International Labour Conference at Geneva in May. The nominations for representatives of trade unions and employers* associations are being invited by the Government. The workers and the employers each will have a representative. and the final selection will be made by ballot, similar to the election of assessors to the Arbitration Court. The Government will have a direct representative. In the recent session of the House of Representatives, the Prime Minister, Sir Joseph Ward, promised that the L>ominion would be represented at the 1930 conference. Mr. Bloodworth will be nominated on behalf of the trades unions.

EXPRESSES LATE BUSY TIME AT STATION Owing to crossing delays the Lim ited express was 25 minutes late this morning, arriving at Auckland at 9.57, o’clock. There was a delay of 25 minutes in the arrival of the Daylight Limited from Wellington last evening, due to the same cause. Sixteen minutes were lost in Southern districts and eight minutes between Frankton and Auckland. The latter delay was mainly due to the second express from Auckland, which comprised a total of 20 carriages, being about 20 minutes late in reaching Frankton There were two extra carriages oc. the express from Wellington. The Auckland railway platform was crowded last evening, the ending of the primary schools' holidays being responsible. The Limited express for South carried a full complement of passengers, while the second express included 11 additional carriages.
