WHERE WAS BABY BORN?
HOUSE IN THREE PARISHES When a baby was born at the Paddocks, Crews Hill, near Enfield, an interesting problem arose. In which parish was the baby born? The registrars of the three districts of Northaw, Cheshunt and Enfield had to decide the matter, reports the “Daily Chronicle,” London. The house stands in two counties, Middlesex and Hertfordshire, and the boundaries of the three parishes named above run through it. Before the baby could definitely be registered, a visit to the house by the registrars concerned was necessary. V was found, after several maps had been consulted, that the room in which the baby was born was in Cheshunt parish. The Paddocks, which is an old house dating from the days of the Commonwealth, has recently been restored. The owner has to pay rates on parts of the house to three authorities.
