ECLIPSE OF SUN
N.Z. PARTY WILL MAKE OBSERVATIONS NAVY’S AID SOUGHT Observations of the eclipse of the sun in October next are to be made by a party of New Zealand scientists at Tin Can Island, in the Pacific. The party has secured the loan of instruments from England, and these are now en route to New Zealand, and this will afford the party ample time to become acquainted with them. Only observations that can be done thoroughly are to be undertaken, including problems such as atmospheric electricity and the fading of wireless signals. Committees are now working on the various questipns for study. The assistance of the Navy in transporting the expedition to and from the island is being sought.
