Otahuhu Carnival Claims Attention

POPULAR FIXTURE ENTRIES NEXT FRIDAY One of the most popular items on the Auckland trotting calendar is the summer fixture of the Otahuhu Club, which comes up for decision on February 22 and 24, and the schedule arranged for the forthcoming carnival will appeal to owners and trainers in all parts of the Dominion. Like many other sporting organisations which have experienced a lean period of late, the Otahuhu Club was forced very much against the will of the management to curtail its prize sheet for the present season. In making the cut, however, good judgment was shown, with the result that the programme as now constituted is not shorn of any of its usual attractiveness. In order to suit the convenience of visitors the club this year has arranged the carnival for Saturday and Monday, a feature that will no doubt induce a greater number of outside owners to make the trip. The historic Otahuhu Cup, an event that for a considerable number of years has created keen interest and drawn high-class contestants from various parts of New Zealand and Australia, is the principal heat of the function.
