Swarbrick acknowledged the tribute paid to the memory of his father. He said it was very fitthg indeed that the structure should be placed at the lake entrance to hi s memory. During the last few months of his father’s life one of his most constant thoughts was how to provide a fitting entrance to the Lake Domain. Mr. Fow then severed the ribbon across the entrance and declared the memorial arch open. The South Auckland Pipe Band, which formed a gus.rd of honour, then played two selections, and the public filed beneath the arch. Two marble slabs will be affiied to the panels above the two pedestrian entrances. One slab bears the in. scription: “This entrance is dedicated to the memory of the late Arthur Swarbrick.” The other reads: “Chairman, Hamilton Domain Board, 1913-1921, 1925-1927. If you seek a further monument, look within.”
