WOMAN ADMITTED TO PROBATION THEFT DUE TO ILL-HEALTH Press Association CHRISTCHURCH, Today. Seen at the trots at Addington wearing a coat and frock which had been stolen from a city firm, Anita Esther Wilson was charged in the Magistrate's Court yesterday with stealing goods worth £l6 14s 6d from Margery Dean, Limited. According to Chief-Detective Carroll accused had been before the court last December on five similar charges. She had been seen at the races on Wednesday by the manageress of tlie firm from which the clothes had been stolen, and a constable had been informed and accused arrested. Accused's counsel, Mr. Sargent, said that the theft was an unfortunate lapse, due to her health. She had not taken the clothes with the idea of making money, because her husband had given her money for a coat, which was still in the house. The magistrate, Mr. E. D. Mosley, S.M.. admitted accused to probation for two years on condition that she entered into a bond of £2s..with one surety of a’ similar amount, as a guarantee of her good behaviour. She was also ordered to refund £l6 14s 6d. the value of the stolen goods, within seven days.
