POLICE CAMP AT MINE

STATE WILL PROTECT VOLUNTEERS COLLIERY TO BE OPENED Reed. 9.45 a.m. SYDNEY, Tuesday. The State PremieG Mr. T. R. Bavin, announced after a Cabinet meeting yesterday that preparations were almost complete for opening the Rothbury colliery on the terms which the miners’ leaders had advised the men to accept. Sfeps were also being taken to secure the opening of other mines. Delegates from all the miners’ lodges will meet at Newcastle today, to formulate a policy for the continuance of the strike, in accordance with the resolutions at the aggregate meetings. Before the Rothbury colliery is opened by the State Government, a police camp will he established adjacent to the mine. Arrangements are also being made to enable the miners to live in tents. Similar plans apply to two or three other collieries. The Rothbury miners who decline to work under the terms recommended by the union leaders will be refusod the dole by the Government. The same course will he followed with other mines, as the Government takes them over. The Cabinet intends to man the Rothbury pit forthwith, and it is expected that coal-hewing will start early next week.
