The j programme will be a varied one, in- , eluding talking pictures, music by the j Symphony Orchestra of 30 pieces, seelctions by Ted Henkel's “Personality ; Stage Band of individual soloists, organ j solos by Fred School, master plaj ei ! and other features. The chief pictorial attractions will be the most hilarious comedy ever seen in New Zealand, a United Artists attraction entitled “Three Dive Ghosts In preparation for Friday week th“ 50 players who make up the orchestra and band are practising daily, the ballet is undergoing intensive training, and the wardrobe mistress is supervising the completion of the huge waraLovers of architectural beauty will be delighted with the interior decoration. Costly furnishings are a feature of the whole theatre. The whole aim has been to produce a restful effec throughout, and the Oriental sty* - which has been adopted has certainiv come up to expectations. Indiai* decorations under an atmospheric sky produce a remarkable effect, and tinspecial artists who have contributed the mural decorations and other fea- : tures have succeeded admirably in creating a harmonious whole. The huge winter garden will be a feature of the theatre. In this magruficent portion of the theatre patrons will be able to watch the screen while having tea. Music will be provided by a band, and dancing will be provided for on the superb cabaret floor. Cabaret parties will also be catered for. _ _ . The box plan for the first week of the season is open daily at the booking office. Civic Theatre Buildings. Jean Arthur, promising young actress of “The Mysterious Dr. Fu Manchu” and “The Greene Murder Case,” has been selected to play opposite Charles Buddy Rogers in his next starring picture for Paramount.
