HAVE YOU HEARD THIS ONE?

K.R.L.D. IS TESTING PRIZE FOR BEST REPORT KRLD, Dallas, Texas, is testing on Sunday evenings on a wave-length of about 256 metres and will be found just below Palmerston North’s position on the dials. Last Sunday evening this station was heard between 7.30 and 9 p.m. by a Takapuna listener. The announcer said the station would welcome reports from New Zealand, and that a prize of four dollars would be given to the most distant listener who sent in the best report of reception of the station. RADIO FOR KING ALFONSO CARRIED ON AIRSHIP When the Graf Zeppelin flew from Lakehurst to Germany on the last leg of her round-the-world voyage, she carried an Atwater-Kent screen-grid set. It went to King Alfonso of Spain as a personal gift from Mr. Kent. Before the flight started, the radio formed part of an exhibit of Phila-delphia-made products displayed in a Philadelphia store. The whole exhibit was loaded on the Graf, and later displayed in Berlin. The set, after being shown at the radio fair in Barcelona, was shipped to Madrid and presented to the King. King Alfonso is a radio enthusiast. His fondness for radio was shared by his mother, the late Queen Maria Cristina, who had three Atwater-Kent sets in her palace.
